down or thematic approach to ETF investing could pick markets such as Japanese equities,
sectors such as AI or technology, or themes such as climate change and decarbonisation.
A bottom up approach to picking ETFs could drill down deeper into more granular sub-sectors,
such as electric vehicle batteries, Chinese e-commerce, or solar power.
ETF analysis can also focus on execution efficiency, such as liquidity, volumes traded and
bid/offer spreads, which can also change over different market conditions and vary between
times of day.
