Can I manage my own ETF?
This really depends on how “managing” an ETF is defined. In a regulatory sense, setting up
the corporate and operational structures to handle ETF management could be an expensive
process that might take years, and require a lot of expertise and experience.
However, those individuals and companies lacking the wherewithal to do this could consider working with an
asset manager or “white label” ETF platform who handle the operational nitty gritty. Such
asset managers and platforms work with lots of smaller research boutiques designing and
creating innovative indices that are most often used as a basis for thematic ETFs.
